Your Office 2010 license allows you to reinstall Office on the same computer, and some licenses allow you to activate Office on more than one computer. But if you try activating Office and you get a message that you have installed it too many times, use the telephone option in the Activation Wizard to contact a support technician. To learn more about what the license terms allow, read the Microsoft Software License Terms for your Office product.
Office 2010 Mak Key Activation
If you don't activate your software, eventually Office 2010 switches to Reduced Functionality mode where it lets you open files to view them but not edit them. You can still activate by going to File > Help > Activate Product Key. In the Activation Wizard, choose the option for activating by telephone, and when you call the activation number, but do not enter anything or say anything. You'll be transferred to someone who can help you.
While customizing the office 2010 in OCT(office cusotmization tool), select Modify Setup properties on the left pane, and then click Add in the right pane.In the Add Property Value dialog box, in the Name box, type AUTO_ACTIVATE. Note that property names must be uppercase. In the Value box, type 1, and then click OK.
your users (or the account installing/activating Office) will need to be an admin on the local machine,AND will need transparent, unauthenticated http access to the MS activation webservers.
If the users/accounts performing activation of Office, don't have local admin, then you will need to set the USEROPERATIONS registry key (or settings element in config.xml), which lowers the required privilege level for activation to occur.
from this console session, anything launched will do so in the LocalSystem security context.kickoff the office install in the same way your ConfigMgr program does (eg from the ConfigMgr client cache or run from the same UNC or whatever you're doing)
It will activate under the local administrator account and is set to go through proxy. I can run the command from the local administrator account it will activate office fine. It will just not run through sccm I am getting very frustrated here.
I'm about to go on a terrible rant here, but will try to contain my UTTER HATRED of microsoft for the time being. I too, am attempting to deploy an Office product, Project 2010, trough SCCM to users who do not have admin privs on their machines. The deployment EVENTUALLY worked (don't get me started on the utter f'ing brain damage THAT took through SCCM), silently deploying Project 2010 to a machine, only to find that the user was prompted for activation and had to do so as an admin. I used a MAK key in the MDT for this deployment. After reading the string above, I'm convinced of a couple of things: A- Anyone who thinks Micorsoft has any clue is an idiot (I include myself here- but I'm getting much better) and B- clearly NOBODY has a very good, documented solution to solving this problem. There are too many options, there is apparently no right answer, there are too many options. There shoudl be one, easy to find, Microsoft proscribed SOLUTION to this problem. Wake the F up, Microsoft. F! F! F! F!!!!!!
You need this product key to install Office 2010. If you never redeemed the alpha-numeric PIN and don't have a product key, you won't be able to complete the installation and activation. If you do have the key and need install help, see Install Office 2010 and Activate Office 2010.
We have Office 2010 deployed to around 350 workstations, all activated with a MAK key. All of a sudden, the previously licensed applications have been prompting the users to re-activate office. I was under the assumption that MAK is a one-time activation that authenticates through one of their servers. Any idea why all these copies of Office are suddenly losing their license? I've gone into about 20 manually and just re-added the key and re-authenticated to fix the issue. Some of them I had to do a repair install on because it would not activate even when re-inputting the key.
You may only own 10 licenses, with 5000 activations. This means you can go to 5000 computers and the activation will continue to be successful. However, once you reach a total of 10 activated machines, each time you activate the key on a new machine, one of the machines will become de-activated.
I had a 33-user MAK license purchased in 2015 for Office 2010 Professional that would not activate. When I called for phone support, Microsoft told me that my product key had been pirated and had been used 13000 times, so they disabled it!! We have been using this product key for all of these years and never had a problem until I refreshed one of the computers. When I reinstalled Office 2010, then I find out I can't activate it with the previous key. I wound up having to buy a single user license to activate. I just wanted to share with the community this incident. Protect your product keys from Pirates!!
Cloned PC, changed office key. Got error with license information on restart office. Ativated through CMD and all was OK.Open CMD as Administrator.cd c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14cscript ospp.vbs /act
Volume activation is the process that Microsoft volume licensing customers use to automate and manage the activation of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and other Microsoft products across large organizations.
Which activation method you choose depends on the size, network infrastructure, connectivity, and security requirements of your environment. You can choose to use different activation methods for different versions of Office and for different computers, for example desktops and laptops. Because these three activation methods are also used to activate volume licensed versions of Windows, you might be able to use the same method to activate both Windows and Office. For more information, see Volume Activation for Windows 10 and Volume Activation Overview.
All volume licensed versions of Office, including Project and Visio, have a preinstalled product key, called a Generic Volume License Key (GVLK), that can be used for KMS and Active Directory-based activation. You don't have to enter a product key for each Office installation if you're activating Office by using KMS or Active Directory. If you're activating Office by using MAK, you must enter a product key for each Office installation, but there are ways to automate that.
KMS activation is a client-server model in which each client requests activation from a KMS host computer. The keys needed to activate Office are installed on the KMS host computer. The client uses DNS to locate a KMS host computer to request activation.
MAK activation is used for one-time activation through Microsoft-hosted activation services, either via the internet or by telephone. MAK activation requires that a MAK is installed on a client computer and instructs that computer to activate itself against those services.
Each MAK has a predetermined number of allowed activations and is based on your volume licensing agreement. Each Office activation that uses MAK counts toward the activation limit. After Office is activated, no re-activation is required unless the hardware changes significantly.
Active Directory-based activation can activate Office installed on domain-joined computers. The product key information, which is the same that is used by KMS, is stored in Active Directory and replicated throughout the forest. If Office can't contact Active Directory for activation, Office tries to activate by using KMS.
My only problem is that i need internet connection during the installation for the activation. We have a proxy server in our enviroment and i dont know how i can enter the proxy adress in the setup/regisrty or something like this.
Got a problem; when i deploy this install with my DS console, it reports me errors on my VM and once the installation is complete (when it works) i have to activate Office2010... but when i execute the same script from the user session, without any modifications, it works perfectly and i do not have to activate Office... strange isn't it?
Office 2010 Volume License edition has two different ways to activate the license. You can use Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Key Management Services (KMS). MAK is like you are familiar with on the previous versions of Office and Windows. You enter a key and register with Microsoft. It is a onetime activation for the product. KMS is a newer way to activate the product and is what Office 2010 defaults to for installs. If the install is set to KMS then when you get the warning that Office needs to be activated in the next X number of days you will not seen any place on the warning screen to activate with Microsoft. To switch over to the traditional MAK setup you will need to click on the file tab at the top left of the screen and then help. On the help page select Change Product Key and enter your MAK license key from Microsoft Volume Licensing. When the license key is verified as valid, make sure the check box on the bottom left of the page asking to also activate the installation with Microsoft is also checked (default), and click on next.
Reapply the MAK does not help as it loses activation immediately thereafter. Querying the Office 2010 activation status confirms it is activated, then activation is loss without explanation. Conventional methods as described via the Microsoft Technet forum link below do not work.
I can see this activating office 2010 during the install on my parent VM and being activated when finished (not having to type in my key and activate after install). I just hope it translates to the linked clones. Testing... 2ff7e9595c
